Here are a few simple steps to ensure a successful start up of Genesis:

 

Start up

 

1. After filling and balancing the tub add one can of True Blue per 100 gallons. If you are unsure of the gallons use NaBr strips or a conductivity meter. If you do not have either strips or a meter call Martha at 800.251-5276 to order. The range of conductivity required to operate The Genesis Device is 1700-2600 PPM salt. The preferred level is 2500ppm Tru Blu

 

1. Optional Test – We know that Phosphates can cause algae to bloom. Phosphates are an increasing concern in recreational pools and spas. This can cause The Genesis Device to “max out” its production. Eliminating this up front will prevent problems down the road. A simple inexpensive test will detect any phosphates and a Phosphate Remover will eliminate it from the water. These are available from Martha.

 

1. Add about 1/3 of an Ounce of non-chlorine shock, per 100 gallons to the tub to “kick start” bromine production.

 

1. Turn dial on Genesis Control panel to 10.

 

1. Measure the bromine with a test strip or kit and instruct the owner to test once or twice a day turning the dial down to the setting that results in a bromine reading of 1-3 ppm.
