President's Corner
Mike Arteaga, President of All Sport Health & Fitness,
tells of his experience in our featured article that well
illustrates a point I wish to make in this newsletter.
Mike's story of initially purchasing a system from a local
Dealer, reminds me that now that the Salt PureŽ
process is accepted, even sought after, we are going
to be running into situations like Mike's. As he
noted, "Heck, the guy (local service company) is a
good pool technician. He installed my pump & heater
last year, he is a little cheaper, and he is local. I should
give the guy a shot, right!"
What we realize, and work very hard to achieve, every
day, is that there is a lot at stake when a vibrant
commercial aquatic facility decides to switch to a new,
different method of sanitizing their pool. They are
essentially entrusting their pools revenue stream to the
new vendor, and as such, that entity needs to be well
versed in all aspects of Salt PureŽ sanitation. The
vendor certainly needs to understand and have some
experience with the differences in chemistry and
various technical issues, and a firm understanding of
how to get back up and running, when there is a
problem. Most of all they need to be responsive,
patient and knowledgeable.
Honestly, there are not many of us out here,
who specialize in this process. Then add chemistry
controllers and there are even less. TMI is the only
company, that we know of, who has been
concentrating on and specializing in the combination of
Salt PureŽ water and chemistry controllers for the last
8 years.

"I have recently spent some time training pool
operators
at pools where the heaters experienced premature
failure. In both cases, the heaters lost their heat
exchangers.
The procedure (outlined in this article) will ensure that
your pool water is in good chemical condition and that
you, the operator, is showing responsibility for the long
term health of the pool structure and equipment."

| All Sport Health & Fitness Centers, New York |
 |
|
In August of 2002, Mike Arteaga, owner of All Sport
Health & Fitness , New York, finally had his new Salt
PureŽ system installed in his Poughkeepsie Club. Mike
is a man of action. Within several weeks, Mike had also
converted his Ulster club to TMI Salt PureŽ water.
Prior to going ahead with the TMI Salt PureŽ system,
Mike had decided to give his local service company a
chance to install a salt system mostly because they
were local and he liked them. Mike says of this
experience: "That system was apparently a residential
system that was being applied commercially with very
little thought. It constantly broke down, and the
service was almost non-existent. It was a disaster and
we wished we had never made that transition."
Around that time, Mike spoke to a club owner friend of
his who had TMI Salt PureŽ systems on all his pools,
(and had done for a number of years ) in 5 different
clubs, and some of the pools were even larger than All
Sport's. Mike contacted Timothy and within weeks had
installed TMI Salt PureŽ systems in both his clubs.
Today Mike is very happy with his pools. "The water is
crystal clear, and the response from TMI
instantaneous. They exceed our expectations. TMI
even contacts us on a regular basis to see how we're
doing! We're thrilled with this system compared to
every system we have had in the past. Members love
the water clarity. You could see a dime on the bottom
at any point in time regardless of fluctuations in usage.
We have more clarity than ever before. We constantly
had to shock with the old system (using liquid and
tabs) because of loss of clarity. Then, it was rare to
have clarity. Now, it is rare not to have clarity!"
Mike estimated that they are saving about $400 per
month in chlorine costs per pool. And he is very happy
to no longer have to deal with the liability from a safety
perspective, as safety is a primary issue to his
organization. Additionally, his maintenance director is
much happier and his time has been freed up to do
other things.
"We strongly recommend a salt system but to go
further, we recommend a TMI Salt PureŽ system
because, as we learned, there are big differences
between these systems and peoples experience with
them. And TMI was night and day compared to any
other we have experienced".
And then Mike spoke to Joe Cirulli at Gainsville Health
& Fitness and the story goes on. More next time...
