"The Best Feeling Water"
A Senior Housing Cooperative initiated by members of the senior Caucus of Group Health Cooperative.
Oct. 20, 1997
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, Silver Glen is a Senior Housing Cooperative having one, two, & three bedroom units, contained in three large multi-story buildings., Initial occupancy was in the spring of 1994. One of the amenities to the owners is a large, indoor swimming pool. Initially we used chlorine as the pool sanitizing agent, fed by conventional methods. Too many of our owners complained of the odor, and of eye and skin irritation. We switched to bromine as the sariitizer. Again, many people had the same complaints about bromine as they did for chlorine, and wouldn't use the pool. At the request of our Board Of Directors, I started investigating salt chlorination systems in early 1996. I am a retired mechanical engineer and also a resident of Silver Glen. About one year later, we purchased & installed the TMI Salt Pure® System. To provide automatic generation of chlorine, and to feed muriatic acid (when needed), we also installed an Automated Controller. The salt system has now been in operation for seven months.
Our complaints have disappeared. No more burning eyes, discolored hair, itchy skin, or offensive odor. The salt level is so low we can't taste it. Even the feel of the sparkling clear water is different. We believe the initial cost of the system will eventually be offset by reduced chemical costs. However, the satisfactions of our swimmers have made the project worthwhile.
Sincerely, (Signature on file) George
