Greetings!
"Breaking" news from the industry means
good news for Salt PureŽ!
It is rumored that chlorine (especially Tri-Chlor) is
going to be more expensive and " in demand" this
year. At the end of last year, the FTC finalized their
ruling placing an embargo on foreign chlorine. As a
result, a price increase of around 38 cents per lb on
raw material became effective Jan 01, 2005 and a
further similar increase is planned at the end of
March, although this has not yet been publicly
announced.
What does all this mean? Well, such a shortages will
upset the balance of supply and demand of chlorine
in the United States, making chlorine in general,
more expensive and perhaps more difficult to get.
For example, if you were paying around $110 for a 50
lb bucket of sticks, you may end up paying as much
as $200 to $215.00 for the same bucket in 2005.
Talk of a warm Spring in the NE, if correct, may
exacerbate this situation even further with an earlier
and greater overall demand for Chlorine in 2005.
For those of you have already invested in Chlorine
Generation (Salt PureaŽ equipment), pat yourselves
on the back, because you have successfully
managed to avoid this situation affecting your
business and your profitability in 2005, and has made
your payback even more economically viable. Most
of our customers tell us that not only have they
been saving money on an annual basis since their
Salt PureŽ installation, but, many have also
increased membership and therefore revenue, due to
the superior quality of the water and air with their
Salt PureŽ equipment.
So, if you have not yet "taken the plunge" to lower
sanitizing costs, decrease maintenance costs and
increase swimmer satisfaction, these events in 2005
may just provide the motivation you need to take a
more serious look at this Salt PureŽ system you
have been thinking about all this time!
Here's to a great 2005!

Thanks again for the help. I have been very
impressed with TMI both with your salt system and
the great things it did for our water. But, also the
follow up support your team has provided my staff.
They had a lot of questions when we first put the
system in. Your staff has been great. Thank you

| Preventative Maintenance |
 |
Editors Note; It would be foolish of me to think
that I could attempt to cover all of the areas that
fall under this heading. Consider this article as an
honest attempt to highlight some of the more
obvious area of PMP as it relates to recreational
water chemistry
In previous articles I have expressed that in earlier
days all water chemistry problems were thought to
be solved by Chlorine Gas and Acid.
No More. Preventative Maintenance
Programs are fast taking hold in a world where
revenue and regulations rule.
No More, can an Operator risk having the
Aquatic Revenue Stream shut down due to a
violation or safety issue.
No More, can the Aquatic Industry allow for
injury and subsequent lawsuits.
As we all know...An ounce of Prevention is worth
gallons of cure...

Did you know evaporation from you pool or spa is the
largest source of energy loss?? When the air
temperature drops below your pools temperature,
heat is evaporating away, costing you money !!
What is the solution? The US Dept. of Energy states
"Currently, the most effective method of
controlling evaporation (heat loss) is to cover the
pool". While the pool is covered energy loss
is reduced by 60 to 80%.
TMI has been looking for a durable, "non bubble"
cover for some time now, to offer our customers.
For both indoor and outdoor bodies of water.

CO2 versus Muriatic Acid?
When we first entered into the commercial market,
very few facilities used CO2 as a pH medium. Most
used either concentrated or diluted Muriatic Acid.
There seemed to be a number of reasons:

Lets welcome Cathy back and congratulate her on
the arrival of Isabella.
Many of you have already spoken with me but for
those of you who haven't, I am the Office Manager
here at TMI. I handle general office management
and as many of you know technical support.
I understand that when you are calling someone
for
technical support, you are, in many cases, in a
frustrating situation. To make this process a little
easier on us both, I have a few pointers that should
help.

Cleaning your COM-25 Cell
It is important to inspect your cell every 2 months to
ensure that it is clean and not crusted with a white
substance - calcium. If your water is high in calcium
you may need to do this more often.
If you allow the cell to operate while the blades
are
coated with calcium, the unit will not produce
chlorine at it's normal rate and you will reduce your
cell life by doing so.
NOTE: when "clean" is displayed on the screen, this
does not mean that you must clean your cell, it
means that the unit is in it's clean cycle.
Remember, never remove the DC cord from the
cell before cleaning it.

| "One Step" Phosphate Test Kit |
 |
|
The TMI Salt PureŽ Phosphate Test Kit takes
one minute to diagnose your Phosphate
levels. A low cost for 50 individual
tests.
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOU HAVE A PHOSPHATE
CONTAMINATION? Preliminary signs of a
contamination are that you are using more Chlorine
than usual, or the Salt PureŽ equipment is running at
100%, and the Chlorine readings are going down, but
the water still looks clear !!
SOLUTION: Test and treat for phosphates

$15.00

Back in 1996 it was a rare event to have a
commercial facility contact me to find out more
about the Salt PureŽ System. I was the one that
would generally make the call to attempt to stimulate
that interest level. So it was a surprise when I
answered my line to find that it was the Facilities
Manager of RFF (AmFam) asking if I was the person
to talk to about Salt PureŽ equipment. Pleasantly
surprised I stated that I was and asked how I could
be of assistance. I was not at all prepared for the
response
